IRS Mileage Rate– Effective 1/1/2009 the IRS vehicle mileage rate drops from $.585 to $.55 per mile.

Performance Reviews – Annual performance reviews are a good idea.  They work best when the participants have clearly defined goals, objectives, work assignments and measures.  The review should be an opportunity for two-way communication between supervisor and co-worker.  A type of review known as a 360° review also seeks information from an employee’s co-workers.  This type of review requires training, coaching and counseling, and both parties consent and participation to be successful.  Recently some employees have contacted MGEC stating that MnDOT was using the 360° review process inappropriately. MnDOT claims they do not use this process at all.  Any employee who feels that a 360° process has been used in their review should discuss that with their supervisor and inform MGEC of the performance review methodology.

Seniority Rosters – Seniority rosters received by MGEC are posted on the MGEC website.  The most recent addition is the MnDOT seniority roster.  It can also be found on the internal Mn/DOT web page at:

Any changes, errors, or omissions to the MnDOT seniority roster should be brought to Brenda Machovsky's attention in writing (via e-mail or intra-/inter-office mail) within 30 days after the posting date, or before January 17, 2009:
