Cut the Waste - On February 8, House leadership led by Rep. Marquardt announced the creation of a Web site soliciting feedback from Minnesotans on waste that can be cut from state government. Transportation Legislation Moves to Senate - Contact Your Senators in Support. The U.S. House of Representatives on Thursday, March 4 passed jobs legislation (H.R. 2847) that would extend surface transportation programs through December 2010 and ensure the solvency of the Highway Trust Fund (HTF). Since the House made minor changes to the legislation that was previously passed by the Senate, it now returns to the Senate for final approval before it can go to the president to be signed into law. Consider contacting your U.S. Senators in support of jobs legislation (H.R. 2847) that would extend surface transportation programs through December 2010 to allow Congress more time to develop a full six-year authorization bill, and also ensure the solvency of the Highway Trust Fund.
