Open Enrollment Nears - Insurances open enrollment will be held from November 5 through November 18, 2008. It’s important to be well informed of your insurance options and "get it right." The most expensive issues state employees face often stem from mistakes of commission and/or omission with their insurances, pre-tax set aside dollars and/or health treatments. The benefit specialists and carrier representatives will conduct employee meetings November 3 through November 14. See schedule of the meetings on pages 5-10 of this link.
Some cost saving measures to consider....
Attending one of the Employee Meetings concerning your options during open enrollment.
Checking out Total Care Pharmacy (mail order from Canada) to get your regular prescriptions for free.
Using Navitus (US mail order) to get a 3-month Rx for the price of 2 month's co-pays.
New for 2009:
SEGIP will place $250 into a Health Reimbursement Account (HRA) per employee for health and medical costs.
Debit card for reimbursement of your pre-tax medical set aside and your $250 Health Reimbursement Account (HRA). Setting aside $$$ (up to $5,000) pre-tax for medical expenses and being reimbursed couldn’t be easier. The average HRA of $1,500 saves the employee $113 in taxes. Every $1 set aside recoups approx. 7.5% in payroll tax savings for the employee!
Getting a free annual preventative physical and flu shot to prevent problems before they get started.
· MGEC Annual Election - The annual Board of Directors election will begin around the end of this month. Click here to review the Slate of Candidates. The election will be held on-line; vote-eligible members will receive an individual email with a link to the poll.
