Three scholarships are available: Two $500 awards for family members of MGEC members and one $1000 award for an MGEC member.
Family Member Scholarship
Two $500 scholarships are available to family members (children, step-children, grandchildren, step-grandchildren, siblings, and legal wards) of MGEC members (Regular, Associate, or Life Members). Students who are entering their junior or senior year of college and are pursuing a degree in a STEM (science, technology, engineering, math) or land surveying field may apply. If awarded, the student would receive the scholarship money as a reimbursement after submitting a receipt as proof of tuition payment.
How to apply for the Family Member Scholarship:
The student should submit a brief letter which describes their goals and field of study, name and relationship to the MGEC member (i.e., child, grandchild, etc.), and the student’s contact information including mailing address. A copy of the most recent transcript must be submitted with the application letter. Email, fax or mail the letter of application and transcript to the address below.
Connie Minetor Memorial Scholarship
In 2002, MGEC’s board announced the initiation of the member-only scholarship program. The Connie Minetor Memorial Scholarship for MGEC Members is named for the late Connie Minetor, MGEC’s first female President (1997/98) and first President from MPCA. It was established to provide help to members seeking to attain a degree or advanced degree in engineering or land surveying, or seeking additional work-related training. Up to $1,000 may be awarded to one MGEC Member (not Fair Share or Associate). Current Board Members are not eligible to apply. Eligible members may apply for the scholarship more than once. If awarded, you would receive the scholarship as a reimbursement after providing proof of payment for the training or course(s).
How to apply for the Connie Minetor Memorial Scholarship:
Submit a letter of no more than 200 words stating your goals and describing the educational purpose for the scholarship, along with some information on the education or training itself. Email, fax or mail the letter of application to the address below.
