Bargaining Update

29 March 2023

Current Contract: House File 800, and Senate File 1431 need passage to approve the 2021 – 2023 MGEC Contract The house passed the contract on March 2nd. It also has to be approved by the Senate. In the Senate a final vote is needed. While we expect no issues with passage, we always encourage MGEC members to reach out to their senators before the end of the month to ask for passage of our labor agreements. Insurance Bargaining between the unions and the state will begin this month. Currently a list of union proposals is being drafted. MGEC members with ideas for proposals should contact ... Contact Your Legislators

28 February 2023

The 2021-2023 MGEC Contract is in effect. However, the legislature needs to approve of the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) for it to remain in effect once the current legislature adjourns. That deadline is currently scheduled for May 22. HF800 has been drafted to ratify the state employee contracts.  It passed the House State Government Policy and Finance committee earlier this month.  It still needs to make it through several steps of the legislative process.  MGEC will work with the authors, MMB and others in the coming weeks. If you have any questions or concerns, let us know. ... Read More >>

Military Affairs

28 February 2023

MGEC members have a strong presence in almost all lines of business the State of Minnesota runs.  In the spirit of having a stronger recognition of the totality and nuance of our work, we want to take a moment to note the work of our Military Affairs group. Primarily located within the Design and Project Management area at Camp Ripley, there are also a couple of MGEC folks at the Air National Guard bases in Duluth and MSP.  Our function is to provide land survey, design, and project management services for the maintenance of existing National Guard military facilities in Minnesota as well ...
