2019-2021 Contract Negotiation Update
Thursday, December 19th, marked the 8th time MGEC met with representatives from the State’s bargaining team in 2019, and the first day of mediation. There is some small progress to report. The MGEC negotiation team and the State signed a Memorandum of Understanding; agreeing to implement the new insurance coverage effective January 1, 2020 and to also honor several, previously agreed upon contract language changes (Tentative Agreements) in the new contract when it is implemented. MGEC Negotiation Update
Five days of negotiations were originally scheduled between the MGEC team and the State team at the MnDOT Training Center in Shoreview, MN. We met on each of those days and have now scheduled two additional days for meetings on October 31 and November 1. The negotiation process has been productive and proceeding well overall. On the State side, Paula Graff took over for Austin Neese as the lead negotiator for the State. Derrick Dasenbrock, MGEC President, continues serving as MGEC lead.
