The public employee bargaining unit representatives on the Joint Labor Management Committee on Health Insurance are interested in your feedback about the current vision benefits offered by the State/SEGIP. The State’s current Vision insurance plan is administered by Blue Cross Vison Plan partnered with Davis Vision. Vision insurance is optional coverage that a state employee may select during Open Enrollment for which an employee pays 100% of the premium. Scholarship & Awards Applications Now Being Accepted!
MGEC has opened the opportunity to apply for scholarships (Family Member Scholarships and Connie Minetor Memorial Scholarship). Applications must be received by MGEC no later than by 5:00 pm on June 30, 2024. Winners will be decided by the MGEC Membership Committee in July with announcement in August. MGEC, at their discretion, may award up to $4,000 each calendar year for scholarships, distributed amongst any number of qualified applicants for the Family Member and Connie Minetor Memorial Scholarships. President’s Message
Happy New Year from Okinawa! First and foremost, thank you to Dan Sullivan for his leadership in the past year! His hard work and along with a dedicated MGEC Staff and bargaining team, we were able to get a new biennial contract with significant improvements. But we still have a way to go. Even with a 10% increase in the 2023-2025 contract, we are still significantly behind the inflation rate in the last 4 years. Bargaining Update
We had hoped to be sending out the MGEC summary, redline contract with grids and the ballot. Unfortunately, we are still waiting for the state's compensation department to complete the appendices in the contract that identify what pay range is assigned to each class and the pay grids that list the pay for each step of every range. The board feels it is important to review the documents in their entirety so they can be sure the information provided to you will be accurate.
