MGEC has a series of scholarships and awards available to recognize and support not just members within MGEC, but also their families. We have several awards and scholarships that are reviewed by fellow MGEC members to determine the winners.
MGEC recognitions include The Golden Slide Rule and the Distinguished Citizen awards. The Golden Slide Rule recognizes accomplishments in outstanding technical writing, technical skills, and sharing expertise with their peers. The Distinguished Citizen award recognized outstanding service to one’s community, whether local, regional, or international. Both of these awards are based on nominations from the MGEC membership. If you know someone who deserves recognition in either of these awards, please nominate them! We will present the awards at the Annual Meeting in September.
And if you or a family member is pursuing a STEM education, you are welcome to encourage them to apply for one of our scholarships. The Family Member Scholarship is available to family members of MGEC members who are pursuing a STEM education. The applicant must be entering their junior or senior year or those pursuing a master’s degree. The amount varies based on the quality of application as well as the number of qualifying applications, but the minimum of a qualifying scholarship is $500.
Lastly, we also offer the Connie Minetor Memorial Scholarship to MGEC members who are pursuing a degree or advanced degree in an engineering or land-surveying field.
