In-Person meeting at Oak Marsh Golf Course called to order by President Dan Sullivan at 6:24 PM.
The meeting agenda was moved for approval and seconded. Motion Passed unanimously.
Dan Sullivan updated the membership on the status of negotiations, encouraged attendees to nominate themselves or others for MGEC Executive Board Positions, and recognized Past President Corey Mathisen for his service to MGEC as President during Calendar Year 2022.
Executive Board member and Membership Committee chair Mike Rude presented the scholarships and other MGEC awards. Family member scholarships were awarded to Erik DeSmith, Joseph Stam, and Julian Klemann. Erik DeSmith was present and thanked the membership for the scholarship. Joseph Stam and Julian Klemann were not able to attend but wrote to the organization expressing their gratitude. The Connie Minetor Scholarship was awarded to MGEC member Aaron Hinz, who is pursuing graduate research in water quality in remote India. He was not able to attend but wrote to the organization expressing his gratitude. The Distinguished Citizenship Award was presented to Corey Mathisen, who was attending remotely. The Golden Slide Rule Award was presented to Chad Kolstad for his work on lead drinking water service lines. He was in attendance and thanked the membership.
Executive Board Secretary Benton Campbell presented the 2022 minutes, which were moved for approval with one administrative edit, second, and passed unanimously.
Executive Director Dana Wheeler gave the treasurer’s report for Executive Board Treasurer Heather Gardner, who was unable to attend. The membership reviewed the budget and actual expenses for FY2023. Dana fielded questions on our investments and liquidity. A motion was made and seconded to reinvest the money in CDs to secure financial instruments with a higher rate of return. Motion Passed unanimously. A motion was made and seconded to approve the financial report. Motion Passed unanimously.
Executive Director Dana Wheeler gave his report, with an in-depth review of the current status of contract negotiations with the State.
Administrative Assistant Donna Blackwell reviewed the membership numbers, including represented employees by state agency and new honorary life members since the previous annual meeting.
Labor Relations Representative Tony Kelly gave his report, discussing the standing MGEC Committees and his work with recurring meetings with different portions of the membership.
A motion was made to adjourn the meeting and seconded. Motion passed unanimously. The meeting adjourned at 7:07 PM.
