- Meeting called to order at 3:40pm by President Corey Mathisen.
Overtime on Holiday Pay Periods
- Discussed overtime pay during holiday pay periods with Paul Pilarsky from MnDOT. Tony will reach out to Paul tomorrow to discuss further.
Secretary’s Report (Mike)
- Motion to approve May 19th Board meeting minutes (Bruce H. / Brandon N.)

President’s Report (Corey M.)
- Clarified in response to questions that MAPD is a completely separate organization from MGEC and not affiliated in any way.
Executive Director’s Report (Tony)
- Polled Board members about meal reimbursement policies at their respective offices and agencies. Most reported that receipts are not required for meal reimbursement.
- Bargaining Committee will meet again next week. MAPE and AFSCME are reported to have tentative agreements in place.
- MnDOT has suspended 3 employees for respect in the workplace violations. Advocacy Committee will meet to address these.
- Tony and Brandon were at the NASHTU Conference last week. Reported on relationships made, NASHTU initiatives, and success stories from other states.
- Reported leave balances for Tony and Donna.
Treasurer’s Report (Tony & Wes)
- Working on creating financial reports with accounting firm (Betts & Hayes).
- Attorney Jim is working on getting taxes and filings current.
- The MGEC building is being re-keyed tomorrow.
- Anticipating turning our monthly losses around after our financial audits.
Bargaining Committee (Benton)
- Reported on status of AFSCME and MAPE bargaining.
Insurance Update (Blake)
- Expect to see employee share of insurance premiums to increase by 17%.
- Held the line on coverages and co-pays.
- Initial proposals by MMB were very, very bad.
Membership Committee (Mike)
- Reported on Committee’s renewed effort to contact represented non-member new hires and encourage union membership.
- Reported on scholarship applicant status.
- Reported that the Committee is contacting sponsors for the annual golf tournament and finalizing participant fees.
Membership Report (Tony)
- Reported on membership numbers and conversion rates.
- Grad Engineer 1 and 2 are the lowest conversion rates. Donna has some ideas on marketing to this group.
Vice President’s Report (Benton)
- Encouraged recruitment of candidates for upcoming Board elections. Would like to see some competition.
