We are aware of recent emails sent by MMB to MGEC members, especially those who supervise, that alert them that they submitted or approved time sheets that MMB claims led to overpayments. This is part of an initiative set off over a year ago based on a report from the Legislative Auditor that has resulted in several skirmishes between MMB and MGEC over what the contract really says.
At this point, the letters seem to be advisories, not demands for specific “repayments”. If you have received a specific demand for payment, please reach out to MGEC so we can investigate it. While some of these letters could be based on interpretations of the contract we agree with, we have encountered others that we don’t agree with. Ultimately, it’s difficult for us to grieve the latter situations if we haven’t been contacted – MMB doesn’t tell us who is getting these letters.
