Welcome to 2020

9 January 2020

Dear all Members and Represented Non-Members,

MGEC accomplished a lot in 2019 and I am hopeful for a successful 2020.

I would like to echo the sentiment that now Past President Derrick recently shared in his end of year message. The success of 2019 could not have been done without the membership and the hard work from the MGEC staff, board members, and other contributors.

As we look forward, my hope is that 2020 can be as successful as we focus on the following priorities:

  • Finalizing the 2020-2021 contract

The next date of mediation with the state is scheduled for January 22, 2020.

  • Member Communication

Timely communication to members on the MGEC website, by email, and skype sessions.

  • Member Engagements

Increase the number of events and education sessions for members.

I would also like to briefly introduce myself. Currently I am a principal engineer with the Office of Pipeline Safety, which is located within the Department of Public Safety. I have been with the state for about nine years and have been a MGEC board member since 2012. I am working on advocating, negotiating, and representing the entirety of MGEC. On issues specific to MnDOT, my plan is to work closely with the Past President and soon to-be-filled Vice President.

Finally, I wish to sincerely thank all our Full, Supporting, and Associate Members. It takes resources for any organization to be successful, I would like to personally acknowledge your commitment to the future of MGEC. If you are currently a Represented Non-Member, please consider joining. Future communications and events will likely be targeted for Members. Invest in yourself; our future is in your hands. With your support we can and will do more.

Best regards,

Jeff Cremin, MGEC 2020 President
